    Play: Bears/Lions Under 44.5

The Bears and Lions open up week 1 of the NFL season in Detroit. There will be no fans at the game so there won't be any sort of homefield advantage. Last year the two teams played a 20-13 game in Chicago and a 24-20 contest in Detroit with the Bears taking each contest. It's hard to take too much out of that considering the Detroit QBs were Jeff Driskel and David Blough. Both games had a really low total of 37.5 and 38 because of that so it's hard to use the total numbers. Chicago is going with Mitchell Trubisky under center and he's had great numbers against the Lions in his career. Still, I think it's really hard to trust the signal caller and who knows how much Matt Nagy will let him do. Also, who knows how long his leash will be with Nick Foles waiting in the wings. The Lions defense added several more pieces from New England and exchanged cornerbacks with Desmond Trufant replacing Darius Slay. That's definitely a downgrade, but I still think he's a good #1.

The Lions offense should be strong as long as Matt Stafford is upright. Detroit has made some changes to their offensive line with Jonah Jackson and Halapoulivaati Vaitai up front joining Frank Ragnow, Taylor Decker and Joe Dahl. This group should be under siege from a very good Bears defense that brought back Akiem Hicks and still has the usual suspects in the front seven. The DET running back group has an array of players with Adrian Peterson, D'Andre Swift and Kerryon Johnson. I really like Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay as a pair of wide receivers on the outside.

Chicago has gone under in 19 of their last 33 games including seven of their last 10 as an underdog. To me, this game feels like it could be lower scoring as I just don't trust the Bears offense, but think their defense will keep them in it.
