    Burnes v. Boyd (listed)

I could list off at least 11 different reasons this play ranks as one of the highest on the season so far...but the starting point (no pun intended) is the starting pitchers.  Burnes may be an "unknown" but is as solid as the Brewers have going right now in the rotation and certainly has earned it with his excellent stuff...the type of stuff a lineup like the Tigers, following a nice win over Milwaukee, aren't going to be able to keep up with after facing Adrian Houser and handling him quite well.  On the other bump we have Matthew Boyd, of the 2019 trade deadline where every team wanted to add him, to now where he is a lost cause nearly, with the worst HR rate going for qualified starters in the MLB, a 1-6 record and a nasty near 5 xFIP facing right handed hitters.

The Brewers will almost certainly only have one left handed bat in the lineup, in you know who, Christian Yelich.  Boyd hasn't exactly fared better against the left handed bats, as he should, but with only one in there, and one who has a .400 average and .400 ISO the last 2 weeks facing LHP, this could very well be a blood bath.  Another X factor is the return of Avisail Garcia, the one hitter with serious experience facing Boyd, and a nice history at that, with a 1.051 OPS and 2 HR with 7 RBI!

How Boyd will avoid giving up a bomb (or more) to Hiura or Garcia, even Gyorko or Braun is beyond me?!...and very unlikely to happen....the Brewers shouldn't have a hard time scoring AT ALL, but even if they did, Burnes is as good on the road as he is at home...and gets immensely better the second time through an the tune of a .091 FIP when facing a lineup the second time...a true mark of a starter we like to back!

Let's hammer this early play and snag a bunch of green for some later games on the diamond and hardwood!
