     3% Take Texas (#324)

This is one rivalry game where experience matters.  There have been MANY NFL QB prospects coming out of these two schools over the past 20 years.  Heisman winners.  Overall #1 draft choices.  But since 1990, when a first year starter at QB, like Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler faces off against a more experienced counterpart like Sam Ehlinger, the rookie starter has gone 3-13-1 SU.  Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley: ‘It’s one of those games if you haven’t been a part of it…..it’s hard to understand what if feels like to play in this game.”

Oklahoma’s season is already ruined, a 1-2 football team after their defense got gashed in back-2-back losses to Kansas State and Iowa State.  Texas is coming off a bitter loss to TCU, but every preseason goal they had is still in front of them.  The Longhorns senior QB Sam Ehlinger, has already faced Oklahoma four previous times in his career, including an outright upset on this field two years ago.  He’s a bet-on QB here.

Ehlinger showed plenty of leadership following the loss to the Horned Frogs: “I just let them know that I want to win……I was challenging guys to step up and take ownership of the program and the details of discipline.  We have the talent; that’s not the issue.  We get in our own way, and we can eliminate that by being disciplined in every single thing that we do.  Discipline is not a switch that you flip on Saturday’s.”  Look for the Longhorns discipline and veteran leadership to be a difference maker in this year’s Red River Rivalry.  Take Texas

Line Parameter: 3% at +1 or higher, 2% at pk or if Texas is favored.
