I'm playing on LA. While I don't typically lay this kind of price, I also don't shy away from doing so, when that price could easily be much higher. Yesterday, we saw that there was absolutely no quit in the Dodgers. While he missed Game 2 with back spasms, Kershaw, one of the greatest pitchers of all-time, is ready to go. He's 175-76 with a 2.43 ERA and 1.00 WHIP for his career, striking out more than 2500 batters in just over 2300 innings. However, until he wins the World Series, fair or not, he'll always be known, to many, as someone who couldn't get it done when it really mattered. This season is different. Not only did Kershaw quietly post a 2.16 ERA and 0.84 WHIP but he's also got a dominant 1.93 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in two playoff starts, striking out 19 in 14 innings. Now, he gets a chance to come through when his team needs him most. A win today won't completely change his "playoff rep," but it'll be a big help. Facing the Braves, a team he has owned in the playoffs, I expect the future Hall-Of-Famer to be at his best. Kershaw has made three playoff starts against Atlanta and he's got a 0.43 ERA to show for it. The Braves go with Wilson, a 22-year old rookie with just seven starts under his belt. While he likely won't be around too long, Wilson has a career 5.91 ERA and 1.80 WHIP. I like the fact that he's already pitched here and I'm going with Kershaw, a native Texan, to outpitch and outlast the youngster, en route to the Dodgers evening up the series.
