3% Take Boston (#918) on the Run Line

It’s a bullpen game for both teams today.  The Red Sox rank #5 in the majors in bullpen ERA; Toronto ranks #17 while ranking #6 in bullpen innings pitched – an overused pen that’s getting worn down.  That’s exactly what happened in last night’s game, as a Blue Jays four run seventh inning lead turned into a multi-run loss.  All four relievers that Charlie Montoyo used allowed at least one run.  That same bullpen needed five relievers to survive multiple shaky innings on Thursday.  Three different relievers gave up runs on Wednesday.

I could go back further, but you get my point.  The Jays bullpen isn’t capable of mowing down opposing lineups, and this Red Sox lineup is HOT right now!  Boston has won eight of their last nine overall, producing seven runs or more six times in their last eight ballgames.  They’ve owned this Blue Jays squad; winning 12 of the last 14 meetings here at Fenway and five of the last six overall.  Toronto continues to play losing baseball, just 13-35 in their last 48 games and their last 14 defeats have all come by multi-run margins.  Take the Red Sox on the Run Line.
