    4%  Take Pittsburgh (#907)

After the Pirates rallied back from a six run deficit to beat the Tigers last week, starting pitcher Trevor Williams talked about how that single victory had the chance to propel the team forward, giving Pittsburgh a much needed surge of momentum.  Williams nailed it.  The Pirates have now won six of their last seven, including back-2-back blowouts as big underdogs at Houston.  Their lineup is on fire; pounding out 52 runs during this seven game surge.   Their bullpen has been surprisingly effective of late, and it’s a fresh pen as well, off three consecutive quality starts after an off day.

The Pirates have a better road record than they do at home; a team worthy of support in this ‘plus price’ role as road underdogs.  They blasted Jhoulys Chacin for seven earned runs in 2.2 innings of work when they saw him earlier this month, and a Brewers team that is still five games over .500 is just 3-9 in Chacin’s last 12 trips to the hill.  It’s certainly not like Milwaukee is playing good ball right now; just 4-9 in their last 13 games.  And Pirates starter Chris Archer is coming off a strong showing against the hot hitting Padres in his last outing.  Live dog here!  Take the Pirates.
