    3%  Take Pittsburgh (#952)

This is a tale of two teams headed in opposite directions on the final weekend before the All Star Break.   The Brewers are struggling mightily, losers of three straight on their current road trip and eight of their last ten on the highway.  Milwaukee hasn’t scored a run in 23 innings, coming off back-2-back shutout losses.  And slugger Ryan Braun is banged up, not likely to play this evening.  That’s bad news against Pirates starter Steven Brault, who has a 2.01 ERA in six starts since rejoining the rotation in late May; getting the ground ball outs he was struggling to get earlier in the season.

Pittsburgh finally lost a game yesterday, but the Pirates are 9-2 in their last 11 at PNC Park, scoring six runs or more seven times during that span; a hot lineup.  They’ll be seeing Zack Davies for the fourth time in a month; bad news for a pitcher who relies on deception and movement as opposed to velocity.  Current Pirates have hit .305 against him in their respective careers, in sharp contrast to the Brewers combined .220 batting average against Brault.  And I love this quote from shortstop Kevin Newman after the Pirates lost yesterday: “We will come back (on Friday) with the same mentality, the same vibe. Like it didn't happen." Live dog here!  Take the Pirates.
