3% Take Detroit – LA Angels OVER (#919-920)

The Angels lineup pounded out 25 runs in the first four games of this homestand before a rare ‘off night’ on Monday.  The Tigers cold bats woke up in LA last night, pounding out seven runs themselves.  Both of these two teams are capable of putting crooked numbers all over the scoreboard.

Tigers starter Drew VerHagen got lit up in his only big league start last year and he got lit up in his only big league start this year.  He’s been trying to crack the starting rotation since 2014 and it hasn’t been pretty watching him fail repeatedly.  Behind VerHagen, the Tigers dismal bullpen (bottom five in ERA) has been badly overworked since their most recent day off, last Monday.

Angels starter Griffin Canning has been struggling with his mechanics and LA has been forced to use him out of the bullpen – this is not a young hurler in good current form, to put it mildly.  With a 12.34 ERA and a .360 batting average against in July, coming off an ugly relief outing in a 16 inning marathon in his last outing, Canning is not a trustworthy hurler tonight.  And like the Tigers bullpen, LA’s pen is anything BUT fresh, opening the door for some potential late inning shenanigans as well.  Take the OVER.

Line Parameter: 3% at 9.5 (-120) or lower, 2% if the juice is above -120 or if the total moves to 10
