     4% Take Houston (#967)

The Indians spent two weeks feasting on the weak following the All Star Break, getting back into the AL Central race by going 11-3 against the hapless Tigers, Royals (two series) and Blue Jays.  Prior to that, they went 11-3 in another stretch against losers – the Reds, Royals (two series), Tigers and Orioles.  Add it up and we’re talking about a 22-6 record against bottom feeders over the past month plus; the Indians ‘hot streak’.

During this span, Cleveland has played a grand total of four games against winning teams, losing two out of three against Minnesota and losing last night, notching only two hits in a shutout defeat.  The Indians are not a team I trust to step up in class right now.  And this quote from Jason Kipnis following the Trevor Bauer trade really stands out as a buzzkill for Cleveland:

“You’re losing a damn good pitcher and we’re in a race right now.  It’s not fun for this clubhouse…. I’m guessing we were favored in every game he’s started (this year).”

Houston has been the single most profitable team in MLB to support on the highway over the last two years, and they haven’t lost a series on the road since mid-June in the Bronx.  Starter Jose Urquidy has been dominant in each of his last two trips to the hill: 15 strikeouts over 13 innings of work, with only two walks and two runs allowed.  Take the Astros.
