Here’s the key quote from Angels manager Brad Ausmus, underachieving here in LA just the way the Tigers underachieved when he was managing Detroit: “We're kind of cool as a team offensively. If we were swinging the bats better, it wouldn't necessarily matter as much who they were throwing at us. We'd probably be getting our hits and scoring more runs. We're in kind of a lull offensively."

‘Cool offensively’ is selling it short!  LA’s bats are ice cold, producing only six runs in their last three games, held to three runs or less in 10 of their last 16 games overall.  That’s bad news against Shane Bieber, who has allowed three runs or less eight times in his last nine trips to the hill.  Bieber has been truly dominant of late, with an 18-2 strikeout to walk ratio over his last two starts, allowing only two runs in 16 innings of work.

LA’s bullpen is not in great shape here, to put it mildly, after their two starting pitchers in this series combined to throw a grand total of two innings – there’s not much long relief help today.  That could be a problem with Jamie Barria and his 10.62 road ERA on the hill this afternoon.  Barria is a ‘twice through the order’ guy on a good day, showing extreme vulnerability to the home run of late.   Each of the Angels last four losses have come by four runs or more; seven of the Indians last eight wins have come by 4+ run margins as well.  Take the Indians on the Run Line.
