3%   Take the New York Yankees (#920)

Yesterday’s rainout is EXACTLY what the Yankees needed.  Now their bullpen is fresh and they don’t need a bullpen game today with Masahiro Tanaka on the mound.  Tanaka has allowed a grand total of one run and four hits in 11 innings of work in the postseason this year, including a dominant showing against these Astros last week.  And Tanaka is a proven postseason performer: 5-2 with a 1.32 in seven previous playoff starts.  With a fresh bullpen behind him, expect the Astros bats to struggle this evening.

The day off yesterday also can only help a Yankees lineup that has been stymied by Justin Verlander and Gerritt Cole over the last two games.  Zack Grienke is not in that same class as those two aces at this stage of his career, and Grienke’s postseason track record isn’t pretty.  In four career trips to the playoffs (with four different teams), Grienke has finished with a postseason ERA above 6.00 three times, including a pair of subpar starts this postseason.  It’s surely worth noting that the Astros are 5-1 here in the playoffs is games NOT started by Grienke, but 0-2 in his two previous outings.  Take the Yankees.
