The ‘Daily Double’ video below offers my take for BOTH NBA Playoff Games tonight.  Here’s a write-up for the LA- OKC Total.  The three most important factors for NBA Totals?  First, free throw attempts — how many points get scored with the clock stopped?  Second, three point shooting — are teams connecting on the NBA’s most valuable shot?  And third is pace — how early in the shot clock are teams able to score on their possessions, and how many ‘push the pace’ fast break bucket opportunities are there?  We can expect all three to work in favor of Over bettors tonight?  Game 1 featured only 25 COMBINED free throw attempts and 23 COMBINED three point makes; both of which are well below team and league averages; primed for ‘positive regression’ this evening.  And it’s not like Game 1 was a particularly slow paced game — the two teams just didn’t make shots.  Expect more shotmaking tonight in a game primed to cash Over bets with room to spare.  Take the OVER.

Similarly, NBA playoff home favorites entering Game 3 of a series after back-to-back losses by a combined 9+ points are 50-30-2 ATS (62.5%), covering the spread by an average of 4.0 points per game. In contrast, NBA favorites coming off a loss are 396-314-11 (55.8%) in Game 2 (or beyond) of a series, including 114-87-2 ATS (56.7%) since 2019. Let’s also note that Round 2 home teams are 35-17 ATS (67.3%) following a Round 2 loss, winning by an average of 11.2 points and covering by an average of 7.9 points. Although the Lakers ended up taking the loss in Game 1 against the Thunder DeAndre Ayton was still a force in the rebounding department racking up 12 of them. We’ll take his NBA player prop over 8.5 rebounds in Game 2 with Ayton now hitting double digit rebounds in four straight games. He has averaged 11 rebounds per game in the post season which leads the team with the next top rebounder being LeBron James at 6.7 per game. He has played 30 minutes per game in the post season which is a slight uptick from the regular season and it’s also worth noting that big man Jared Vanderbilt is doubtful for this game which could mean a few additional minutes for Ayton on the floor tonight as well. His +/- rating of -4 actually was the best among all Lakers players that saw at least 10 minutes in Game 1 so we know he’s not in danger of losing minutes to Jaxson Hayes who had a -12 rating in just 16 minutes. After hauling in over 25% of the Lakers’ total rebounds in Game 1 let’s take Ayton to be a force on the glass for LA again tonight taking his NBA player prop over 8.5 rebounds in Game 2.
