David Hess has a strong MLB total lined up for this evening, and the matchup gives him exactly the kind of edge he loves to attack. The numbers point to value, the read is clean, and the window won’t stay open long. Even better — tonight’s play is just $7.00. This one deserves a spot on your card.

The PLAY: Total Under 8.0 (-105) Action
Miami/St. Louis Under 8 is the play Friday night. Busch Stadium has been a low-scoring venue for the Cardinals lately, with the Under cashing in five of their last six home games while those contests have produced only 6.67 runs per game, and St. Louis simply has not hit nearly as well here as it has on the road. The Cardinals are averaging just 3.95 runs per game at home compared with 5.32 away, and that number drops to 3.64 runs over their last 10 at Busch. Miami is not built to carry a total on the road either, averaging only 4.17 runs per game away from home, and the Marlins now run into Max Meyer’s strong season. Meyer owns a 2.34 ERA over his last seven starts, including a 1.38 ERA over his last two road outings, and he has already posted a 2.38 ERA in two career starts against St. Louis. McGreevy has quietly been reliable in this building as well with a 2.25 ERA at home, while his last five home starts have averaged just 5.6 total runs. With two starters in good form and a Cardinals offense that has consistently been far less productive at Busch, this number is a little too high. Take Under 8.
