The PLAY: St. Louis Cardinals -126 Nick Lodolo (LHP), Matthew Liberatore (LHP) Must Start
In three games against the Reds this season, the Cardinals have scored 24 runs. It was a 10-3 win for the home team last night, after falling into an early 0-3 hole, thanks to taking advantage of three Reds' errors and nine walks. The Reds having a .500 record (31-31) on the season is pretty phony when you consider they've been outscored by 48 runs. Elly De La Cruz is currently injured and won't be in the lineup Saturday.
St. Louis has been one of the pleasant surprises in all of baseball this season. Not much was expected from the Redbirds coming into the campaign, but they are now 33-28 after yday's win and will send Matthew Liberatore to the mound this season. Liberatore had a good month of May (3.98 ERA in six starts) and now has 57 strikeouts in 62 IP this season. He should do well here against a Cincinnati lineup that has the fourth worst batting average in all of baseball.
Nick Lodolo is starting today for the Reds. While he's been better of late, Lodolo still has a 6.63 xERA and 6.76 FIP, which are just terrible numbers. He's also allowed at least one HR in all five starts (7 total). While the Cards are hardly a "high-powered" lineup, they've certainly feasted on Reds' pitching so far in '26, and Lodolo has a 4.85 career ERA vs. St. Louis.
