Marlins vs Braves Analysis
After losing a three-game series to the Brewers, and having an off day yesterday, the Braves travel to Miami to take on the Marlins in a three-game series.
Miami is coming off a series win vs the Nationals and has won 3 of their last 5 games. The Braves and Marlins have squared off three times already this season, and the Marlins have a 2-1 advantage in the season series. For this matchup, Atlanta is a -125 road favorite, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7.5.
Braves Preview
The Atlanta Braves have been incapable of getting it going this season. The defending World Series champs are 17-21 on the season and sit in fourth place in the NL East. The Braves batters sport just a .297 OBP and their pitching staff have an ERA of 3.93.
Veteran right-hander Charlie Morton will take the mound for Atlanta tonight. Morton is 2-3 on the season with a 4.93 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP.
Morton had a stretch of rocky starts earlier this season, but his last two starts were much better. Over his previous two starts, Morton went 11 innings allowing just one run and four hits.
Marlins Preview
Miami has had an up and down start to the 2022 season. 37 games in, the Marlins are 17-20 and sit in third place in the NL East. Miami is just 4-6 in their last 10 games, but they have outscored their opponents by 10 runs during this stretch.
Lefty Trevor Rodgers will make the start for Miami tonight. The 24-year-old is 2-4 this season with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP.
He pitched against the Braves in Atlanta on 4/22 and allowed one run on four hits in five innings. The Marlins, unfortunately, lost that game. Rodgers has allowed just one run in his last two starts combined.
Marlins vs Braves Prediction
Both the Marlins and Braves are starved for a winner here and I think the Braves at -125 take home the win tonight. Morton has more experience than Rodgers and both pitchers have been throwing really well lately.
The Braves lineup needs to wake up and this is a good spot to do it. Take the Braves on the moneyline for this game. For more bets today, check out my Sportsmemo profile.
Prediction: Atlanta Braves Moneyline -125
