New York Mets vs Los Angeles Dodgers Analysis
On Tuesday night, the two best teams in the National League face off for a three-game series. The Dodgers are coming off a 2-1 series win in Miami, and the Mets are coming off a 3-1 series win at home against the Rockies.
The season series between the Mets and Dodgers is split 2-2. For this matchup, the Dodgers are -140 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is 8.5 runs.
Dodgers Dogging Competition This Season
After taking two of three games from the Marlins in their last series, the Dodgers are one win away from being the first 90-win team in baseball. Los Angeles has a 19.5-game lead in the NL West and the Dodgers have shown no signs of slowing down.
In their last 10 games, the Dodgers are 8-2, they are 44-22 on the road, and they are 77-46 covering the run line as a favorite this year.
Lefty Andrew Heaney will make the start for the Dodgers tonight at Citi Field. Heaney is 2-1 in nine starts with a 1.94 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and a 3.01 FIP. His last two starts were both against the Brewers, and he allowed seven runs on nine hits in 10.2 innings of work.
In 16 innings pitched on the road this season, Heaney has a 3.38 ERA, a .469 slugging percentage against, a 3.50 FIP, and a 1.13 WHIP. The Mets are 19th in the MLB in OPS against left-handed pitching this season.
Walker Needs To Be On Tonight
The Mets hold a three-game lead over the Braves in the NL East, and this series against the Dodgers will be paramount for the Mets.
New York is 6-4 in their last 10 games, they are 43-20 at home, and they are 18-15 covering the run line as an underdog. The Mets need to rack up some wins here, but it will be a tough matchup for them.
Taijuan Walker will make the start for New York tonight at home. In 22 starts this year, Walker is 10-3 with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and a 3.76 FIP. Walker pitched against the Dodgers on 6/2 and he allowed two runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings of work.
Walker left his second to last start early with a minor injury, and he allowed two runs on four hits in five innings in his last start against the Yankees. At home this season, Walker has a 3.49 ERA, a 4.00 FIP, and a 1.18 WHIP.
New York Mets vs Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
The Dodgers are an absolute wagon right now, and it is hard to see them losing at all. The Mets are the next best team in the NL, but, facing a lefty is not in their favor. The Dodgers are covering the run line at a crazy rate, so I will back them to do it again today as well.
Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers Runline -1.5 +120
