Diamondbacks vs Marlins Prediction and Spreads
Madison Bumgarner’s last start against these same Marlins didn’t go as planned as he was thrown out of the game one inning in. Can he bounce back tonight against Miami? Sportsmemo MLB analyst Eric Pauly offers his Arizona Diamondbacks vs Miami Marlins preview for Tuesday, May 10.

Diamondbacks vs Marlins Analysis
After getting swept in a three-game series against the White Sox, the Red Sox travel to Atlanta for a two-game series vs the Braves. Boston is on a five-game losing streak dating back to their last series vs the Angels.
The Braves won their last series vs the Brewers and have won three of their last five games. For the first game of this series, the Braves are -135 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7.5 runs.
Diamondbacks Preview
If Arizona played the Marlins all year long, they may have the best record in the MLB. Unfortunately for the Diamondbacks that’s not how the MLB works.
However, Arizona has improved to above .500 for the season and has played quality baseball to date in April. The only problem is they play in the NL West where a 16-14 record has them in last place.
Madison Bumgarner will take the mound for the Diamondbacks tonight. In his last start vs Miami, Bumgarner was pulled after just one inning where he allowed a solo home run.
I expect Bumgarner to throw at least five innings tonight and actually make a real start against Miami. Through six starts this season, Bumgarner has gone 24 innings allowing four earned runs on 16 hits and 11 walks.
Marlins Preview
Miami had a stretch this season where they were playing great baseball. Then, they ran into Arizona and dropped eight of their last nine games. The Marlins are now 13-16 and sit in third place in the NL East.
Jesus Luzardo will make the start for the Marlins tonight. Through five starts this season, Luzardo has allowed nine earned runs through 26.1 innings.
Luzardo does allow a lot of base runners – he has let up 16 walks and 12 hits. Luzardo shines with the strikeout numbers and he averages more than one K per inning.
Diamondbacks vs Marlins Prediction and Best Bet
Miami cannot continue to lose against the Diamondbacks, right? All four of the games have been very close, but Arizona has done a great job hitting when it matters and shutting down the Marlins’ offense.
However, I am on Luzardo and the Marlins (-127) in this matchup. Arizona has been punching above their weight class these past two weeks and Miami is a better ball club than they have shown.
All it takes is one strong outing from a starter to write the ship, and I think Luzardo, the youngin, will provide just that. Give me Miami on the moneyline.
Prediction: Miami Marlins Moneyline / No Run First Inning (NRFI)
