Brewers vs Braves Analysis
After losing a three-game series to the Padres 2-1 at home, the Braves travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers. The Brewers are coming off a 2-1 series win vs the Marlins and are 3-2 in their last five games.
This is the fourth game between these two teams this season and the Braves are 2-1 in the previous three games. For game one of this three-game series, the Brewers are -130 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8 runs.
Braves Preview
We are over 30 games into the 2022 MLB season, and the 2021 World Series Champions have yet to find their stride. The Braves are 16-19 and they sit in third place in the NL East.
The Braves have won just two of their last six series and are not playing inspired baseball. The Braves’ offense is in the middle to bottom third of most statistics as is their pitching staff.
Ian Anderson will take the bump Monday night for his 7th appearance of the 2022 season. Through six starts, Anderson has gone 30 innings allowing 26 hits, 16 walks, and 14 earned runs. Anderson is allowing way too many base runners and he has only struck out 22 batters through 30 innings.
The Braves are 4-2 when Anderson has pitched this season, but in all of these games, the Braves’ offensive output was more impressive than Anderson’s pitching.
Brewers Preview
Milwaukee has picked up this season right where they left off at the end of 2021. The Brewers are 22-13 on the year and are in first place in the NL Central. Milwaukee is getting it done with timely offense and their strong pitching staff.
Freddy Peralta will make his 7th start of the 2022 season for the Brewers. Peralta has struggled to put it all together this season, but he is striking out batters at a fantastic rate.
Through six starts, Peralta has gone 28.2 innings allowing 14 runs on 25 hits and 11 walks. His first two starts of the season were shaky, but he seems to be pitching better each game.
Brewers vs Braves Prediction
Both teams have pitchers on the mound that came into the 2022 season with high expectations but have failed to live up to them. Peralta has gotten stronger as the season has gone on, but Ian Anderson has failed to get it fully together.
I have identified two plays in this matchup with value. For starters, I like the Brewers -135 moneyline. My next play is my best bet, and you can check it out on my Sportsmemo capper profile.
Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline -135
