The PLAY: Total Over 9.5 (-113) K Gibson (RHP), J Kochanowicz (RHP) Must Start
Friday's series opener was low-scoring, a 4-1 win for Baltimore. Today's game should produce at least twice as many runs. I backed the O's yesterday, as Sugano has been rock solid. The same cannot be said for today's starter, Kyle Gibson. Since making his way up from the minors, the 37-year old Gibson has a horrible 14.09 ERA and 2.48 WHIP in two starts. That's a small sample size, of course; those numbers will surely get better. Still, Gibson clearly isn't in the same type of form that Sugano was. Note that he's also got an ugly 5.83 ERA in 15 career appearances vs. the Angels. Meanwhile, LA starter Jack Kochanowicz is 1-5 with a 5.79 ERA through seven starts. He gave up five earned runs in five innings of his last start. With neither starter likely to go the distance, it should be mentioned that these are the worst two bullpens in the American League. Expect this game to reach double-digits.
