I tend to bet against the public, as I'm very contrarian by nature. That said, I take that factor less into account when it comes to the NHL
The majority of the money is on the home side in this one, but at this price, I think deservedly so.
LA is 7-5-4 overall, including 6-1-2 on the road, while Montreal is 10-3-2, including 5-1-1 at home.
The Kings have been trading wins and losses over their last four games, and off a 3-2 win at Pittsburgh, I believe this trend will continue here in Montreal.
Especially with another difficult game at Toronto on Thursday.
Montreal has interestingly seen the total go OVER in seven straight coming into this one, including in its most recent 6-2 home win here over Utah.
The Habs have hit a favorable part of their schedule, with home games against Dallas and Boston up next, and I think Cole Caufield and Montreal will make the most of it.
We are pretty evenly matched between the pipes, whoever gets the start in net, but Darcy Kuemper is expected for the Kings and Sam Montembeault for the Canadiens.
Kuemper is 5-3-3 with a 2.52 goals against, while Montembeault is 4-3-1 with a 3.61 GAA.
As I pointed out, as good as LA has looked so far on the road in the early going, overall right now it comes in extremely inconsistent, trading good performances with poor ones, so not only does Montreal have the clear edge in "form" between the teams, but also the clear home ice advantage factor.
And when you put those two factors together and combine them with this extremely reasonable line, then I think MONTREAL becomes the clear choice in this matchup as far as a side is concerned.
Good luck, NP
