All eyes will be on Pittsburgh star Paul Skenes this afternoon, but we're interested in the Pirates' (potential) lead-off man. Connor Joe has reached base nine times in 16 plate appearances against Chicago's Kyle Hendricks, including a double and three walks. Pittsburgh's lineup just saw Hendricks five days ago, and short-turnaround situations like this usually benefit the hitter. Joe went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in that contest on Sunday. In three games against the Cubs this season, Joe has four hits, three runs scored and five RBI with a walk. Joe is hitting .276 with eight extra-base hits and a .353 on-base percentage against right-hand pitching this season, so the righty vs righty split isn't too big of a concern. Hendricks hasn't gone more than 5.0 innings in any of his six starts this season, so we could be looking at 4+ innings from the Cubs' shaky bullpen. Joe should have plenty of opportunities to generate numbers in a matchup where he's enjoyed a lot of success.
