Missouri State vs Bradley Analysis
Chasing both Loyola Chicago and Northern Iowa at the top of the Missouri Valley Conference, Missouri State and Bradley go head-to-head tonight as both teams sit two games or less back of the top.
The Bears are actually coming off a tough 20 point loss at Northern Iowa. The Braves are 8-2 in their last ten and are looking to avenge a loss to Missouri State that they suffered back on January 5 71-69.
With each team having only one regular season game left after this one, it becomes a must win for both in order to have at least a shot at the regular season MVC Championship.
Mosley Money for Bears
The Bears offense has been rolling this season ranking 45th nationally in points per game scored with 77.1. They shoot almost 80% from the free throw line as a team which is top 10 nationally.
Missouri State also ranks in the top 30 nationally for various other offensive statistics as well including adjusted offensive efficiency, effective field goal percentage, two point field goal percentage and percentage of possessions resulting in a turnover.
Guard Isaiah Mosely handles the perimeter offense while forward Gaige Prim does the dirty work inside. Combined they average over 35 points per game, 13 rebounds per game and shoot over 45% from the field. Mosely on his own shoots almost 92% from the free throw line which is good for 7th in the country.
Most of the reason why the Bears suffered as bad of a loss as they did against Northern Iowa last game is because Mosely only put up six points on 2-7 shooting.
Braves Battling Injuries
The Braves have been dealing with a couple injuries as of late surrounding Jayson Kent and Ja’Shon Henry. Kent is day-to-day (right wrist) and may play in this one where Henry has already been ruled out with a concussion.
These two contribute over 17 points for Bradley which is a big hit to the team’s offense. Bradley likes to shoot the long ball more than not as they rank 107th nationally in three point field goal percentage but only shoot just over 67% from the free throw line which ranks them at 298th nationally.
Only 15.4% of their total points come from the stripe which is good for 304th in the country. Terry Roberts and Rienk Mast lead the Braves on both ends generating over 26 points per game and 13 rebounds per game combined.
On the defensive end these two are good for a couple blocks and steals per game as well. As a team, the Braves are 63rd in adjusted defensive efficiency.
Missouri State vs Bradley Prediction
With Missouri State rolling out the much better offense and with more to play for I’m going to roll with them in this one at home, especially with the Braves still riddled with a couple nagging injuries
They already proved they can beat Bradley once and that was in their home gym. I think Mosely gets it back, even against an above average Bradley defense. Take the Bears -5.5.
Prediction: Missouri State -5.5
