Brewers vs Mets Analysis
The Mets and the Brewers kick off a crucial three-game series on Monday night. Both of these teams need every win they can get, but only one of them can win this matchup and the series. The Brewers are coming off a 2-1 series loss against the Yankees and the Mets are coming off a 4-0 sweep of the Pirates.
New York leads the season series 2-1 over the Brewers. For this matchup, Milwaukee is a -120 home favorite, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 6.5 runs.
Mad Max Going In Milwaukee
The Mets are on a four-game winning streak, but they need to keep up the wins in order to lock in the NL East. New York has just a one-game lead over the Braves and they are in danger of giving up their spot.
The Mets are 93-55 on the season and they are 43-29 on the road. Every game until the Mets clinch the NL East is a must-win game for New York.
Max Scherzer will take the mound for the Mets tonight in Milwaukee. Scherzer will be making his first start since coming off the 10-day injured list. In his last start, Scherzer allowed one run on three hits in five innings of work.
On the road this season, Scherzer has been great, but he has not been as good as he is at home. In 63 innings of work on the road, Scherzer has a 2.86 ERA, a .214 batting average against, a 2.46 FIP, and a .97 WHIP.
The Mets need a healthy Scherzer for the playoffs, but they also need to win games now, so it will be interesting to see how many innings he throws tonight.
Brewers Coming Off Big Series Win Against Yankees
The Brewers are building some momentum, and they need all the wins they can get to make the playoffs this season. Milwaukee is eight games back in the NL Central and it is unlikely they will make the postseason as a division winner. They are just two games back in the Wild Card and that is their best shot of making the playoffs.
Corbin Burnes will make the start for the Brewers tonight at home. Burnes pitched against the Mets on June 15th and allowed two runs on five hits in six innings in a Brewers win. While his season has not been Cy Young caliber, he is still having a great year.
At home this season, Burnes has a 3.10 ERA, a .198 batting average against, a 3.02 FIP, and a .96 WHIP. The Brewers need all the wins they can get, so they must feel good about having their ace on the mound in a critical game.
Brewers vs Mets Prediction
Since the moneyline is so close, this is a tough game to bet. There is limited value on the run line, the total is so low, and both of these teams are playing with a sense of urgency.
For this game, the best betting angle I see is to live bet against whichever team scores first. You will be able to secure plus odds on one of these great teams and it should pay off tonight.
PLAY: Live bet against whichever team scores first
