New York Mets vs San Francisco Giants Analysis
The Giants head to Queens to take on the Mets in what is shaping to be the best series of the early MLB season so far. Both teams have seven wins and are playing great in the early going. The Giants are on a five-game win streak while the Mets have won four of their last five.
Alex Cobb will start on the hill for the Giants for his second start of the season. Tylor Megill, one of the best surprises of the early season, will make his third start of the year for the Mets. At home, the Mets are -118 favorites vs the Giants. The run line is Mets -1.5 and the total is set at 6.5 runs.
Megill is Money So Far This Season
The Mets have won their last two series and have looked like one of the best teams in baseball in the early going. Despite missing Jacob DeGrom, the Mets rotation has been solid and efficient and has kept the Mets in games.
The Mets’ offense has been great too, the Mets are batting .253 with 51 runs on 83 hits and a .415 slugging percentage.
All eyes will be on Mets’ starter Tylor Megill as he looks to make his third straight great start. On the season, Megill is yet to allow a run or walk in 10.1 innings on the hill. Megill has 11 strikeouts to add and has only allowed six hits so far this season.
Clutch Hitting For Streaking Giants
The Giants are on a five-game winning streak and are one of the hottest teams in the MLB. The Giants are only batting .236 as a team, but they get hits at the most opportune times.
San Francisco has a .407 slugging percentage as a team and has scored 43 runs on 70 hits so far this season.
Alex Cobb takes the hill for his second start of the year, and he was fantastic in his first. Against the Padres last week, Cobb threw five innings and allowed two runs on four hits and two walks. Cobb had 10 strikeouts in those five innings.
New York Mets vs San Francisco Giants Prediction
In a matchup like this, it is so hard to determine which team actually deserves to be the favorite. Both teams are red hot, have great pitchers on the bump, and, well, are simply good baseball teams.
The Mets have the advantage of being in their home ballpark, but this should certainly be a fun four-game series.
For this matchup, I lean toward the Giants winning this ball game. The Mets took down the Diamondbacks last series, which is not much of an accomplishment.
The Giants are arguably the better team, so getting them at plus money is the best bet for this matchup.
Prediction: San Francisco Giants Moneyline (+108)
