Yankees at Orioles Analysis
On Tuesday night, the Yankees and Orioles square off for the 2nd game of a four-game series. The Yankees won game one 6-2. Over the course of the season, The Yankees are 5-2 against Baltimore. For this matchup, New York is a -230 road favorite, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8 runs.
Yankees Preview
The Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball this season. New York holds a 26-9 record and is in first place in the AL East.
The Bronx Bombers are getting it done with a strong pitching staff, the long ball, and by producing runs. The Yankees are a force to be reckoned with right now.
Jameson Taillon will make the start for the Yankees tonight, Taillon has faced the Orioles twice already this season and has won both starts.
Taillon is 3-1 on the season with a 2.93 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts. The righty is looking to shut down the Orioles a third time this season.
Orioles Preview
Baltimore has not been good to start the 2022 season. There were no expectations for Baltimore to be competitive, but still, they are struggling mightily.
The Orioles have only scored 116 runs this season and have a .225 batting average. They are in fifth place in the AL East with a 14-22 record.
Spenser Watkins will make the start for the Orioles against the Yankees. Watkins has yet to face the Yankees this season.
Watkins is 0-1 on the year with a 5.19 ERA, a 1.58 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts. He allows too many base runners and he needs to be careful against a strong Yankees lineup.
Yankees at Orioles Prediction
I like over the total of 8 runs in this matchup. The Yankees are going to mash regardless, but I think the Orioles score some runs today too.
This is the third time they are seeing Taillon this season so their lineup should know what to expect. Also, Taillon has not shut down the O’s this season, so the opportunity for runs is certainly there.
Prediction: Over 8 Total Runs Scored
