MLB | (973) Oakland Athletics at (974) Seattle Mariners | 9:40pm EDT - May 10/2024 |
The PLAY: 1H Oakland Athletics +0.5 (-110) P Blackburn (RHP), B Woo (RHP) Must Start
9:40 PM ET: A's +0.5 FIRST FIVE at Mariners
Although the A's have been better at the plate than expected, they owe not being in a bigger hole to ace Paul Blackburn. Even when they were slumping mightily over the first few weeks of the season, Blackburn offered a life preserver with his poise on the mound. Oakland has won in six of his seven starts, and although he's finally been scored upon after opening the season with more than 22 scoreless innings, he opened May with another quality start in a 20-4 rout of Miami. Look for him to put together a solid outing in this series opener in Seattle, which is countering with 24-year-old second-year starter Bryan Woo, who will debut after opening the season on the IL due to elbow inflammation. The A's have been swinging the bats well and Woo faces an adjustment period even though he's had a strong few weeks at Triple-A Tacoma. Take a shot with Oakland plus a half-run on the run line over the first five innings in Seattle for Friday's freebie.
