No matter how you look at Friday's AAC matchup between the Memphis Tigers and the Rice Owls, you have to have to lean on the visitor here. Following their only defeat of the campaign, the Tigers took down the Bulls of South Florida just six days ago at home, 34-31. Not only does this team win, they cover as well. They have won and covered nine of their last 10 overall games. This does include five of their last six games played on the road. They took down the Rice Owls a season ago at home, 27-20 as the game fell right on the number. The reason why this release didn't make it as a premium play for me is because of the rest of the regular season schedule for Memphis. Put a pin in that, we will come right back around to it. The Tigers are 3-1 in conference play. They are tied with the Bulls, the Green Wave, and the Owls of Temple. Undefeated teams in the division are the Midshipmen and the Green Wave. Well sports fans, two of their final four remaining regular season games are against Tulane and Navy. The Green Wave on deck and this game with the Owls sandwiched between last week’s barn burning, 34-31 victory against South Florida. USF did generate over 564 total yards. They might be just get caught between last week's tiring matchup, and next week’s big game opponent. However, this is a smart team, a well-coached team, a deep and talented team also. They face a division opponent that is 4-4 overall, but just 1-3 in AAC play. The Owls can run the ball… boy can they run the ball. They rank 13th in the nation, averaging over 226.0 rushing yards per game. They eat up clock, and make very few mistakes. They pose very little threat in the air, rank 134th in passing yards. The Tigers are pretty good against the rush, and overall allow just 19.9 points-per game, and have snagged 11 takeaways. Because they are a well-coached squad, I'm sure there will be prepared for this matchup. If this line would have been a little bit lower, I might've released it as a premium play. I still like it. Thursday’s FREE WINNER: Tulane Green Wave.

Maybe they don't do it with bells and whistles, but Tulane is a solid football team. They are 6-1 straight up, covering four of their seven games this season against the spread. They are currently only one of two undefeated teams in the AAC (Navy). Following this matchup, they have four more games remaining on the regular season schedule, at least two of them are going to be tough matchups. Having said that, UTSA, despite a 3-4 overall record, has heated up a bit over the last six weeks, winning three of their last five games straight up, but only covering two of those five outings. The last time these two teams met was back in November 2023 with the Green Wave prevailing and get home, 29-16, as a 3.5-point favorite. They can walk proudly knowing their only loss of the campaign came on the road back about five weeks ago at the hands of Mississippi. This is a team that took down Northwestern, Duke, and ECU with authority. Yes, they went through the fire in a barnburner against South Alabama, taking them down 33-31, which was the only team to put up significant points on them besides the Rebels. The Roadrunners do account for more points than the visitor here, but their defense is so darn bad folks, I doubt very much they're going to be able to contain the well-balanced offense of the Green Wave. If this line would've been a little lower, it might've made it as a premium play for me. I still like it. Take Tulane. Thank you.

The general public is all over the home team here, my friends. And why not? They come into tonight's matchup, winning their last two games. The visitor, who did have an extra day off to rest and prepare for this contest, dropped three of their last four outings, including a split on both away games played during that span. I really do feel the oddsmakers are giving the Bears a little too much credit here. Both teams score about the same, as both units have also turned the ball over 11 times. While Missouri States offense is decent in the air, the FIU "O" is dominant on the ground. Both defenses are weak in both of those areas. Being that the Panthers run the ball with such success, I feel they will control the tempo and the clock in this matchup, and move the chains on the ground, keeping their opponents defense on the field, and their offense off of it. I doubt very much Florida International is going to make a run at the conference. They have a tough remaining regular season schedule, and are just 1-2 in league play. Because of this, they will go all out here tonight. Missouri State is 2-1 in C USA action, but has Liberty, UTEP, Kennesaw State, and Louisiana Tech all remaining. Their next opponent, the Flames are going to be a tough foe, so, they might be in a “look ahead” situation, and then the game against the Owls, the winningest team in C USA this season, is going to be a very difficult contest. As I mentioned a moment ago, they might be in a “look ahead” mode, or maybe might even be in a “letdown” situation, but I do think it'll be a lot closer of a game than the points spread.
