| NHL | (5) St. Louis Blues at (6) Toronto Maple Leafs | 7:07pm EST - Nov 18/2025 |
The PLAY: Toronto Maple Leafs -125
This is a FREE PLAY on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
I like playing on desperate teams, and after five straight losses, I'd say that it's the Leafs who are the much more desperate team in this fight.
St. Louis is 6-9-4 overall, while Toronto is 8-9-2.
The Blues are 3-4 on the road, while the Leafs are 7-4-2 at home.
But it's all hands on deck, do or die essentially for the Leafs on Tuesday in my opinion. As I said, I like playing motivated and desperate teams.
And they catch the Blues at a good time, as they come in with zero momentum after two straight losses of their own, most recently a poor 4-1 loss at home against Vegas.
Overall, the Blues are ranked 24th offensively, averaging 2.8 goals per game, while ranked 32nd defensively in conceding 3.8.
Toronto is averaging 3.6 goals per game this year, which is ranked fourth, but it's taken a huge step back here on the defensive end and between the pipes, tied with the Blues with the worst collective goals against average in the league at 3.8.
This will be a popular pick among the general betting public for all of the reasons I've listed above, but also because of the reasonable overall price.
I don't smell any upsets here, and I expect Toronto to come in focused and to finally deliver a half-decent, three-period effort, which will be more than enough to take care of this struggling Blues side.
I think this line could/should in fact be larger, and that's why I think the LEAFS are worth a "second look" on Tuesday night.
Good luck, NP

| NHL | (71) Los Angeles Kings at (72) Washington Capitals | 7:07pm EST - Nov 17/2025 |
The PLAY: Total Over 5.5 (-120)
This is a FREE PLAY on the Kings/Capitals OVER.
As being primarily a situational handicapper, I base almost all of my Over/Under picks, in every sport, on what I perceive to be really great "situations."
And that's the case here, as the red-hot LA Kings are in the nation's capital, looking to deliver another blow to a struggling Capitals team.
LA is 10-5-4 overall, including 9-1-2 on the road, while Washington is 8-8-2 overall, including 4-4-1 at home.
The Kings enter playing extremely well, off four straight wins, including three straight to open this road trip, most recently a 1-0 victory at Ottawa. But with a couple of nights off before a game at San Jose, I think LA will be pushing the pace here and putting the pressure on a Capitals team that's lost four of its last five, including two in a row, most recently a 3-2 shootout loss here to New Jersey.
Darcy Kuemper is 7-3-3 with a 2.44 GAA for the Kings between the pipes, while Logan Thompson is 7-5-1 with a 1.85 goals against for the Capitals.
It's difficult to say anything negative about these goaltenders, really. I just think that they're in the wrong place, at the wrong time on Monday night.
Note as well that the OVER is 12-3-1 in the Kings' last 16 games played on one day's rest, while the Over is 38-16-2 in the Capitals' last 56 games as a home favorite of -110 to -150.
With Washington desperate to snap the slide and needing to match pace with the red-hot Kings, I expect this total to fly OVER the number sooner, rather than later.
Good luck, NP
