Cardinals vs Orioles Analysis
On Wednesday night, the Orioles and Brewers face off for the second game of a three-game series. Baltimore took game one last night 5-3 and is on a three-game winning streak.
On the other hand, St. Louis is on a three-game losing streak and is looking to get back in the win column. For game No. 2, St. Louis is a -215 home favorite, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8 runs.
Cardinals Preview
Last week, St. Louis was on a three-game win streak, but they quickly dropped their next three games. The Cardinals are 16-13 on the season and sit behind the Brewers for first place in the NL Central. Over their last 10 games, St. Louis is 5-5 and has outscored their opponents by just one run.
Miles Mikolas will take the hill for the Cardinals tonight. The righty will be making his seventh start of the season. Mikolas has allowed just six earned runs over 35.1 innings through six starts. St. Louis is 4-2 when Mikolas takes the bump and he is currently sixth in the MLB in ERA at 1.53.
Orioles Preview
Baltimore has been better than advertised so far this season. The Orioles are 13-17 so far this season and are in fourth place in the AL East.
The Orioles do a solid job making contact and getting runners on base, but Baltimore has really struggled with getting runs across the dish this season. However, over their last 10 games, Baltimore is 6-4 and has outscored opponents by 9 runs.
Righty Spenser Watkins will take the mound for his sixth start of the season. Watkins has gone 22.1 innings and has allowed eight earned runs, 21 hits, and 10 walks through five starts. Baltimore has won the last three games Watkins has started.
Cardinals vs Orioles Prediction and Best Bet
Spenser Watkins has allowed a run in the first inning in four of his five starts so far this season. Miles Mikolas has only allowed a first-inning run once this season and it was in his first start of the year.
No runs in the first inning is sitting at even money, and I like that play for this game. Neither team scored a run in the first last night, and I expect that to continue tonight.
Prediction: NRFI (No Run First Inning) +100
