Mets at Cardinals Analysis
The Mets have won the previous two games of this three-game series vs the Cardinals and are looking for the sweep. New York has outscored St. Louis 8-2 so far in this series.
Carlos Carrasco takes the hill for the Mets and former Met Steven Matz takes the hill for the Cardinals. The Mets are -120 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7 runs.
Matz Faces Familiar Team
Not only is St. Louis struggling to produce offense, but their pitching staff has also taken a step backward. At the moment, the Cardinals are batting .226 with just 120 hits and 62 runs scored this season. This lack of offense is taking St. Louis out of winnable games.
Steven Matz, a former Met, takes the hill for St. Louis. Matz was in Toronto last season and signed with the Cardinals this off-season. Matz has a 2-1 record but a 5.27 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP. However, these inflated stats are a byproduct of a very rough first outing. Matz has looked solid in his previous two starts.
Mets Looking For Sweep of Cardinals
The Mets are the hottest team in baseball and are showing no signs of slowing down. At 14-5 so far this season, the Mets are yet to lose any series and are currently on a three-game winning streak. The Mets also hold a 9-3 away record.
Carlos Carrasco will take the hill for the Mets and look to continue his stretch of great starts. New York has lost two of the three games Carrasco has started, but not to his fault. Carrasco, in three starts, has pitched 18.1 innings allowing just three runs on nine hits, two walks, and 20 strikeouts.
Mets at Cardinals Prediction and Best Bet
The Mets are hot and I am riding the train. As slight -120 road favorites, give me the Mets moneyline in this matchup every time. Steven Matz may have a lot to prove to his former team, but I do not think any of the current Mets roster is bothered by Matz being on the hill. Carrasco has been so good this season and I think he carries that momentum into this start. Give me the Mets moneyline.
Prediction: New York Mets Moneyline (-120)
