Diamondbacks at Reds Analysis
On Wednesday night, the Reds and Diamondbacks face off for the third game of a four-game series. The Reds have won both games so far and the scores were 7-0 and 14-8.
Merrill Kelly, the Diamondback’s ace, will take the mound against Mike Minor who will make his second start of the season for the Reds. The Reds are -115 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 9.5 runs.
Washington Nationals Betting Preview
The Diamondbacks are currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak. Arizona is 23-31 on the season and is 12-15 on the road.
They currently sit in fourth place in the NL West. As an underdog this season, the Diamondbacks are 28-18 covering the run line.
Merrill Kelly will make the start for Arizona tonight. The Diamondbacks are 5-6 in games Kelly starts this season and he has a 3.66 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and a 3.41 FIP.
In his last two starts, Kelly allowed six runs on 12 hits over 10 innings of work. He started the season on fire, but Kelly has been hit around as of late.
Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview
The Reds are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are 20-35 on the season. Cincinnati is 12-15 playing at home this year and they are in last place in the NL Central.
As a team, the Reds have a .237 batting average and a .693 OPS. The Reds are 5-8 covering the run line as a favorite this season.
Mike Minor will make the start for the Reds tonight. Minor made his first start of the season last week against the Nationals and he allowed five runs and six hits over four innings of work.
Minor spent last season with the Royals and started 28 games for them. It is going to be interesting to see if Minor is feeling better from the injury that sidelined him to start the year after a rough debut against Washington.
Diamondbacks at Reds Prediction
As you can tell by such a high total, bookmakers believe these pitchers will allow a ton of runs. I fully agree and I have this game priced at over 10.5 -105, so there is slight value on over 9.5.
Looking at this matchup, these are two very weak teams with pitchers trending in the right direction. I would lean to the over in this matchup, but I would see if the line drops to 9 to maximize value.
Prediction: See if the total drops to 9 and play Over
