Braves vs Marlins Analysis
On Friday night, the Marlins travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a three-game series. Miami is coming off getting swept by the Rays and the Braves are coming off a series win against the Phillies.
This is the seventh time these teams will face off this season and the season series is currently tied 3-3. The Braves are -150 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8.5.
Marlins Preview
The Miami Marlins have been struggling lately after a hot start to the season. The Marlins are 4-6 in their last 10 games and they currently sit in fourth place in the NL East with an 18-24 record. The Marlins are just 1-4 in their last five games.
Trevor Rodgers will make the start for Miami tonight against the Braves. Rodgers’ last start was against the Braves, and he let up five runs on eight hits in four innings.
The Braves went yard off Rodgers three times in four innings. On 4/22, Rodgers also pitched against Atlanta. And he allowed just one run and four hits in five innings.
Braves Preview
The Braves, 50 games into the season, are still struggling to recapture the play that won them the World Series last year. Atlanta is just 5-5 in their last 10 games and is 21-24 on the season.
The Braves sit in second place in the NL East, but they are a solid 7.5 games behind the New York Mets for first place.
Ian Anderson makes the start for the Braves tonight against Miami. Anderson pitched against Miami on 5/22 and allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings pitched.
On 4/23, Anderson faced Miami, and he allowed three runs on six hits in five innings. Anderson came into this season with high expectations, but so far, he has failed to pitch at a high level.
Braves vs Marlins Prediction
When considering a game like this, where both starters have faced the other team more than once, there are two ways this can go.
Either the offense has the edge on the pitchers’ scouting report and runs are flowing, or the pitchers adjust to the lineups and understand how to work around them. In this case, I think it is the former.
The total is a little high at 8.5, so I would recommend live betting the total if there are no runs in the first innings. For more picks, including a three-pack of 3% MLB best bets for today, visit my Sportsmemo handicapper profile.
Prediction: Live total OVER if there are no runs in the first
