Brewers vs Padres Analysis
On Friday night, the Padres take on the Brewers for game No. 2 of a four-game series. The Brewers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the ninth last night to defeat San Diego in walk-off fashion.
The Padres are in the midst of a four-game losing streak and they desperately need a win. Milwaukee is a -154 favorite tonight, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at just 6.5 runs for the game.
Padres Betting Preview
The Padres have lost four in a row and they are struggling right now. San Diego’s offense has been outscored by 10 runs over their last 10 games and their bullpen blew the game last night.
The Padres starting pitching has been rock solid this season, so if San Diego wants to catch the Dodgers in the NL West their bats need to wake up.
Joe Musgrove will make the start for the Padres tonight. On the season, Musgrove is 5-0 with a 1.86 ERA, a 2.71 FIP, and a .98 WHIP. San Diego is 8-1 when Musgrove pitches this season and he has never allowed more than two earned runs in a start this year.
Musgrove has been one of the most impressive starters in the NL this season and he is passing the eye test, newspaper stat test, and analytics test.
Brewers Betting Preview
The Brewers won in dramatic fashion last night, but their offense was kept in check most of the night. Milwaukee ended up with nine hits, but without their four-run rally to win it, the Brewers had just one run. The Brewers are batting just 2.28 over their last 10 games, but their OPS against righties in May was .754.
Corbin Burnes will make the start for the Brewers this evening. The righty is 3-2 with a 1.95 ERA, a .82 WHIP, and a 3.04 FIP.
Burnes averages over one strikeout an inning and he leaves 91.7% of batters on base. Burnes pitched against the Padres in San Diego on 5/24 and he allowed one run on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Brewers vs Padres Prediction
This is one of the better pitching matchups of the season, and I think both pitchers are going to look good against shaky offenses.
Looking at angles for this game, I have identified a 2% play and a 5% play which I am 3-0 on this season – check it out on Sportsmemo.
Prediction: 2% San Diego Padres Team Total Over 2.5 -132
