Cubs vs Brewers Analysis
On Wednesday night, the Brewers and the Cubs square off for the final game of a four-game series. The Brewers took both games of a doubleheader on Monday and the Cubs came through with a win last night.
The Brewers currently lead the season series 5-4 and the Cubs can tie it with a win tonight. Milwaukee is a -110 road favorite, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 8 runs.
Brewers Betting Preview
The Brewers are leading the NL Central by just three games early in the season. Milwaukee is 32-19 and they are 18-13 when playing on the road. As a favorite, the Brewers are 18-25 on the run line this season. In their last 10 games, the Brewers are 6-4 and have outscored opponents by 7 runs.
Righty Jason Alexander was called up for the Brewers and will make the start tonight in Wrigley. This is the first MLB action for Alexander so far this season, so it is very difficult to project how he will fare in his first start. Alexander is 29 years old and had a 2.64 ERA in the Minor Leagues.
Cubs Betting Preview
The Cubs are trying to dig themselves out of the basement of the NL Central and are still sitting in fourth place. Chicago is 20-29 on the season and is 8-17 when playing at Wrigley Field. As underdogs, the Cubs are 23-11 on the run line and the Cubs are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Kyle Hendricks will make the start for the Cubs against the Brewers tonight. Hendricks is 2-5 on the season with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP.
The Cubs are 5-5 in games Hendricks has started this season but the Cubs have dropped his last two starts. In two outings this season vs the Brewers, Hendricks has gone 9.2 innings allowing 7 runs on 12 hits.
Cubs vs Brewers Prediction
The Cubs are shaky at home while the Brewers are a great road team. We do not know what to expect from Jason Alexander, but we know this Brewers team likes hitting against Kyle Hendricks. I do not expect Alexander to come into the MLB and toss a gem, so I think this game will go over the total of eight runs. For more picks, check out my handicapper profile on Sportsmemo.
Prediction: Over 8 -110
