Cincinnati Reds at Philadelphia Phillies Analysis
On Wednesday night, the Phillies and Reds face off for the third game of a four-game series. Philly won game one 4-1 and they took last night’s game 7-6.
T.J Zeuch will take the mound for the Reds tonight and Cristopher Sanchez will take the mound for the Phillies. The Phillies are -250 home favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 9 runs.
T.J. Tries to Rebound
The Reds’ offense is playing some of its best baseball this season, but it is too little too late. Cincinnati is 4-6 in their last 10 games and they are in fourth place in the NL Central, but they are not in the Wild Card race at all. The Reds are 48-73 on the season, they are 22-37 on the road, and they are 49-47 covering the run line as an underdog.
Righty T.J. Zeuch will make the start for the Reds tonight on the road in Philly. Zeuch was recalled from Triple-A yesterday and will be making his third start of the season for the Reds tonight.
In his two starts this year, with one of them already being against the Phillies, Zeuch has allowed 12 runs on 17 hits in eight innings of work. He allowed three home runs to the Phillies in his last start and he only struck out one batter in that outing.
His FIP for that game was 13.12m his ground ball percentage was 50%, and the Phillies had a .421 batting average on balls in play against him.
Phillies Needs Wins Against Bad Teams
The Phillies have been inconsistent all year, but they can still make the playoffs. If the Phillies string together wins against bad teams like the Reds, they can win a Wild Card spot.
The Phillies are 5-5 in their last 10 games and their offense has a .278 team batting average over this stretch. Philadelphia is 35-29 at home this season and they are 35-46 covering the run line as an underdog.
Cristopher Sanchez will make the start for the Phillies tonight at home. He is mostly a reliever but he will be making his third start of the season. In his last start, on 7/5, Sanchez allowed just two hits over five innings of work.
Most of Sanchez’s appearances and innings pitched are at home this season, and he has a 2.30 ERA, a 4.59 FIP, and a .83 WHIP in 15.2 innings pitched.
Cincinnati Reds at Philadelphia Phillies Prediction
Both of these teams are swinging the bat well, and both of these teams are trotting out lesser pitchers. I like both teams’ outlook today when it comes to scoring, and I actually believe this game could go either way.
The total is high, but it is worth taking a look at for this matchup, but I am going with the Reds’ team total for this game.
Prediction: Cincinnati Reds Over 3.5 +108
