Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds Analysis
On Tuesday night, the Dodgers and the Reds are set to face off for the first game of a three-game series. The Dodgers are coming off a 2-1 series loss against the Guardians at home and the Reds are coming off getting swept 3-0 by the Brewers at home.
This is the fifth time the Reds and Dodgers will face off this season and the Dodgers are 4-0 against the Reds. For this matchup, the Dodgers are -190 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is 9.5 runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview
The Dodgers are one of the best teams in baseball and they are currently going through a rough patch for their standards. Los Angeles is tied for first place in the NL West with the Padres and is looking to break away.
The Dodgers are 5-5 in their last 10 games and they have outscored opponents by five runs. LA is 20-13 on the road this season and they are 35-29 covering the run line as a favorite.
Tony Gonsolin will make the start for the Dodgers tonight. Gonsolin is 8-0 on the season with a 1.42 ERA, a .82 WHIP, and a 3.10 FIP.
The Dodgers are 9-3 in games Gonsolin has started this season. On 4/15, Gonsolin took on the Reds at home, and let up no runs on three hits and three walks over just four innings.
That was his second start of the season, so it makes sense that Gonsolin did not go late into the game. In his last two starts, Gonsolin has allowed one run on four hits in 12.1 innings.
Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview
After starting out the season on pace to set the record for the most losses in a season, the Reds have bounced back slightly.
Cincinnati is still just 23-43 on the season and they are in last place in the NL Central. The Reds are 12-20 at home this season and they are 25-25 covering the run line as an underdog this year.
Tyler Mahle will make the start for the Reds tonight. Mahle is 2-5 on the season with a 4.46 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and a 3.29 FIP.
Mahle pitched against the Dodgers on 4/17 and he allowed seven runs on seven hits with two walks over just 3.2 innings pitched.
Mahle has gotten stronger as the season has progressed and he is having a great month of June. In his three starts this month, Mahle has allowed four runs on 15 hits over 21 innings pitched. His 86 strikeouts thrown is 11th in baseball.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati Reds Prediction
The Dodgers sometime struggle against lesser teams, but this is a bounce-back spot for them. After losing two of three to the Guardians, the Dodgers could use a win, and this is a matchup for LA to do it.
Mahle has been great in June, but he also faced two bad lineups. The Dodgers should be motivated tonight and I would play them on the run line.
Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 -115
