San Francisco Giants Betting Preview
Playing in a tough NL West is hard for the Giants, but they have been very solid all season long. San Francisco is 37-29 on the season and they are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
During this stretch, the Giants have outscored their opponents by 15 runs. The Giants are 18-15 on the road this year and they are 10-5 covering the run line as an underdog.
Anthony DeScalfani will make the start for the Giants tonight in Atlanta. DeScalfani is 0-1 on the season with a 6.08 ERA and a 1.80 WHIP.
DeScalfani made three starts in April then he hit the 60-day injured list DeScalfani is a solid pitcher when healthy, so it will be interesting to see where he is at. DeScalfani through 5.2 innings in two separate rehab starts in June and he allowed four runs on eight hits.
Atlanta Braves Betting Preview
The Atlanta Braves are the hottest team in baseball at the moment and they refuse to show any signs of slowing down anytime soon. Atlanta is 8-2 in their last 10 games and they have outscored opponents by 29 runs during this run.
Atlanta is 39-29 and they are 5.5 games behind the Mets for first place in the NL East. Atlanta is 21-14 at home this season and they are 25-26 covering the run line as a favorite this season.
Spencer Strider will make the start for the Braves tonight in Atlanta. The 23-year-old righty has been beyond impressive since making the swap from the bullpen to the starting rotation.
In four starts this season, Strider has allowed eight runs on 11 hits over 19.2 innings pitched. Strider has a 2.45 ERA, 2.05 FIP, and a 1.05 WHIP this season. Strider has thrown 68 Ks in 44 innings pitched this season and opponents have a .271 batting average on balls in play against him.
San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves Prediction
Despite how good Strider has been this season, I expect the Giants to hang around tonight. While DeScalfani is returning from injury and it is unknown how good he will be, I think the Giants will keep this game close.
A ninth-inning loss was tough to swallow for San Francisco last night, and they may lose again tonight, but they should cover the run line.
Prediction: San Francisco Giants +1.5 -130
