Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals Analysis
After getting swept by the Phillies in Philadelphia this past week, the Brewers travel to Washington, D.C to take on the Nationals. The Nationals also got swept in their last series against the Miami Marlins.
This is the fourth time the Brewers and Nationals will face off this season and the Brewers lead the season series 2-1. For the first matchup of this series, the Brewers are -170 favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is 8.5 runs.
Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview
The Brewers are on a six-game losing streak and they are losing their lead in the NL Central. The Brewers are 33-26 on the season and hold just a .5 game lead over the Cardinals for first place.
Milwaukee is 2-8 in their last 10 games and their team batting average is a .192 and their ERA is a 4.70. The Brewers are 18-32 as a favorite on the run line this season.
Aaron Ashby will make the start for the Brewers tonight. Ashby is 1-4 on the season and he has a 3.13 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Ashby strikes out a ton of batters and through 46 innings pitched he has 60 Ks.
The lefty allowed four runs in his last start over 6 innings but has allowed just two runs in his two starts prior to that one. He is predominantly a reliever but he has made starts for Milwaukee this year.
Washington Nationals Betting Preview
The Nationals were swept in Miami by the Marlins in their last series. Washington is 21-38 on the season and they are in last place in the NL East.
Washington struggles on the mound as well as in the batter’s box and they are one of the worst teams in the MLB. The Nationals are 9-18 at home this season and 20-29 covering the spread as an underdog.
Erick Fedde will make the start for Washington tonight. Fedde is 3-4 on the season with a 4.88 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. The righty has started 11 games this season so far and the Nationals have won six of those games.
Fedde pitched against the Brewers on 5/20 and allowed two runs on four hits in 5.2 innings. Washington lost 7-0 since their offense could not produce in that game.
Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals Prediction
Ashby is a solid pitcher and Fedde is not a good one whatsoever. This is a great spot for the Brewers to gain back momentum since they have been struggling mightly.
Not only do I think they win, but I would also take the Brewers on the run line tonight as I believe they will win by two or more runs.
Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers Runline -1.5 -115
