Sports fans, I've been doing this for almost 50 years, and for the life of me, I just don't see why Sam Houston is laying wood on the road in this matchup. Yes, I understand New Mexico State is a “less-than-stellar”, opponent (to put it lightly), adversary. But they are playing at home, they have won a couple of games this season, and they come into this game returning home following two away contests. Head-to-head, these two teams split matchups the last two seasons. As far as Sam Housto goes, I understand this team has played four decent opponents: Western Kentucky, UNLV, Hawaii, and Texas. Obviously, they are not supposed to win or cover against any of those foes. But they have looked downright deplorable, with a defense that has allowed a combined 171 points. Yes, it is true, the Aggies statistics offensively are some of the worst in the nation, ranking 120th in points scored, 126th in total yards, 136th in rushing yards, and 43rd in passing yards. Their defense isn't that much better, my friends. But the Beakats have turned the ball over four times, and are only accounting for 16.3 points per game, and are being outscored by an average of 26.5 points per game. They can't stop the pass at all, and their opponent has a decent quarterback. I just feel making them a favorite here is a mistake. Looks like the odd makers are setting a trap. But we're not gonna’ fall for. Take New Mexico State. Thank you.

For starters, this week’s NFL card is just about my most explosive and highest-rated thus far this season. All my weekend winners will be posted by late afternoon THURSDAY.

Some sports books actually open this game as the Rams a -3-point favorite. Some other places opened up a -5 or -5.5. With the news of Brock Purdy most likely sitting here (check status), the line has now skyrocketed well over a touchdown at -8 or even some places, -8.5. Whether Purdy plays or not, I definitely put a lean on the Rams here. They have won and covered each of the last three meetings with the 49ers, all between January 2024, and December 2024. They enter this matchup winning and covering three of four games this season already, and going back a bit, they have covered eight of their last 10 outings. Meanwhile San Francisco, following a perfect 3-0 start to the season, lost a tough game at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, 26-21. I believe this contest showed a lot of the 49ers weaknesses that will be exploited by the Rams this week. Once again, this season, the San Fran is dealing with a laundry list of injuries that has resulted in this teams struggles. The Los Angeles offense has been getting a lot of the headlines. But it is their defense that has been absolutely outstanding. They completely frustrated a very good Indianapolis Colts offensive unit last week that had been basically unstoppable for the first several games of the season. Please understand San Francisco, although they have some big names on the roster, has no rushing attack to keep defenses honest, and throw into the mix the fact that they've committed eight turnovers already, and I think they're in real trouble here. Please understand, as good as your defense is, they still have snagged zero takeaways. They face a Rams team that's well-balanced on offense, and just as well-balanced on defense. They haven't made as many mistakes offensively, while their defense has already grabbed three takeaways. If the line was around a TD, this would be a premium release for me. I like the Rams.
