Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies Analysis
On Wednesday night, the Phillies and the Braves face off for the second game of a three-game series in Philadelphia. The Braves won 5-3 last night after scoring a run in both the eighth and ninth inning.
Atlanta leads the season series 3-2 over the Phillies and just four games separate them in the NL East standings. For this matchup, Atlanta is a -135 road favorite, the run line is 1.5, and the total is 9 runs.
Atlanta Braves Betting Preview
The Braves took care of the Phillies last night and they are looking to complete an amazing month of June.
The Braves are 6-4 in their last 10 games and they have cut the Mets’ lead in the NL East to four games. Atlanta is 43-32 on the year, 19-15 on the road, and they are 26-29 covering the run line as a favorite.
Kyle Wright will make the start for the Braves tonight in Philly. Wright is 8-4 on the season with a 3.18 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a 2.90 FIP.
Wright has allowed 12 runs and 26 hits in his last three starts over 17.1 innings of work. On 5/16 Wright pitched at Philadelphia and allowed three runs on three hits in 6.2 innings of work.
Wright has been great the first two times through a batting order, but he normally sees trouble after that. On the road, Wright has a 2.58 FIP, a 1.38 WHIP, and a 3.10 ERA.
Philadelphia Phillies Betting Preview
The Phillies are 5-5 in their last 10 games and they are now eight games behind the Mets for first place in the NL East. The Phillies are 39-36 this season and they cannot consistently string together wins. The Phillies are 19-18 at home this season and they are 17-9 covering the run line as an underdog.
Ranger Suarez will make the start for the Phillies tonight at home. Suarez is 6-4 with a 4.23 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP, and a 4.32 FIP. Suarez is coming off a good start against the Padres in San Diego.
Also, he pitched against the Braves in Atlanta on 5/25 and allowed five runs on six hits in just 4.1 innings of work. Suarez has been slightly worse at home this season and he has a 4.50 FIP, a 1.73 WHIP, and a 5.10 ERA. The Braves have the fourth highest OPS on the road in the MLB this season.
Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies Prediction
This matchup is a close one but I am going with the Braves to win again tonight in Philly. Atlanta has the better offense, the better pitcher, and the better fielding team, so at -135, there is value in the road dog. Suarez does not scare me but I could also see the Phillies’ offense getting to Wright. No matter, we are going with the road favorite.
Prediction: Atlanta Braves Moneyline -129
