As a multi-time top-10 NBA handicapper, this will be my best season ever. I waited a week to watch and study before I made my assault on professional basketball. Today, I am excited to announce my first night of NBA releases of the 2025/2026 campaign: ODDSMAKERS MISTAKE, FAST BREAK, & SLAM DUNK plays. Brooklyn might've closed last season as one of the Eastern Conference’s poorest teams, while Houston finished up last year, as one of the Western Conference’s best teams. But this is an entirely new season, and remember in sports betting it isn't about who wins, it is about who covers. Both teams enter tonight's matchup winless as the Nets are 0-3, and the Rockets are 0-2. Looking at the history between these two teams, just going back four seasons, Brooklyn has taken eight of the last 10 matchups straight up, but has only covered four of those 10 meetings. Sure, going back to last April, Brooklyn has just one victory under their belt, and yes, they got smoked last night on the road by San Antonio, 118-107. But my friends, this is a lot of points. Houston had a few days to lick their wounds following Fridays, 115-111 home defeat at the hands of Detroit. Yes, the addition of 37-year-old Kevin Durant, will help any team, and still strikes fear in the opposition. And, the offense is scoring points. But their defense is getting absolutely steamrolled for over 120.0 points per game. Granted, playing the Thunder in their season-opener was a tall order, but they should've been at the very least more competitive (actually should've won) their last outing against Detroit. I don't know what to expect from Brooklyn this season. But as of right now, neither offensively nor defensively am I finding them very impressive. But Thomas, Porter, and company are going to come in here with something to fight for. I doubt very much they're going to win this game outright, but I do feel this is way too many points. Maybe this World Series matchup isn't as exciting as perhaps a Yankee/Dodgers battle. But just the same, this is a very good series. As we all know, Los Angeles took the series-opener on the road, 11-4. Game 2 saw Toronto dominate with a big 5-1 victory. Now the series moves to Los Angeles for Game 3, where the Dodgers are one of the best home teams in all of baseball. Granted, during the regular season the Blue Jays left a bit to be desired on the road. This postseason saw Los Angeles win five of their six postseason games played on their own field, while Toronto has taken three of their last four postseason games played as a visitor. There is no question both offenses have exploded during this season's playoffs. There is also no question the L.A. pitching staff has been consistently stronger. Speaking of which, Max Scherzer and Tyler Glasnow are scheduled today. The Blue Jays right-hander will make history this evening becoming the first pitcher to take the mound for four different teams in the World Series. There is no denying he has significantly more postseason experience than Glasnow, with this being his 32nd appearance. He is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in four postseason appearances against the Dodgers, which includes three starts. In his only playoffs start of 2025, he dominated the Mariners on the road back on October 16, going 5.2 strong innings, and only allowing two earned runs. The Los Angeles right-hander had a mediocre regular season, in 18 starts, sporting a 3.19 ERA, and going 4-3. He has certainly improved on that in this year's playoffs, possessing a 0.68 ERA in three appearances, which includes two starts. However, he has struggled over his career against Toronto. In 11 career regular season starts against the Blue Jays, Glasnow is 1-4 with a 5.82 ERA. While I give an edge to Los Angeles playing at home, and yes, they're starting pitcher owns better numbers than his counterpart this postseason, I don't feel Toronto is going to roll over here. This is a team that took the Yankees down with authority, before showing what they are made of coming back from being down 0-2, to beat the Mariners. I also feel their starting pitcher has significantly more postseason experience, which really does mean a lot. Making them this much of an underdog certainly brings us enormous value.
