Marlins at Nationals Analysis
The Marlins won the first game of this best of three series against the Nationals 5-2. Miami scored three runs in the fourth, one in the sixth, and one in the eighth to take the win.
For game two of the series, Miami will start Pablo Lopez while the Nationals will start righty Erick Fedde. The Marlins are -150 road favorites, the run line is 1.5, and the total is set at 7.5 runs.
Nationals Looking for Quality Start From Fedde
Washington got a great start from rookie Josiah Gray last night but was unable to capitalize on his solid showing. Washington struggles all around as a ball club, so losing the game on a night when they get a good start hurts even more. Washington’s pitching staff has a 5.34 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP.
Erick Fedde will make his fourth start of the season. Fedde is 1-1 overall with a 6.75 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP. Fedde has not thrown over five innings in one start this season and has allowed 11 runs in 13.1 innings along with 17 hits and five walks.
Lopez Looks For Another Spectacular Start
The strength of the Marlins is certainly their pitching staff. Sandy Alcantara had a solid start last night and the Marlins bullpen held Washington to just two runs. Miami’s pitching staff has a 3.32 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP so far this season.
Pablo Lopez will take the hill for his fourth start of the season. Lopez is 2-0 this season with a 0.52 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP which is second and fourth in the MLB respectively. In his last start, Lopez went 7 innings allowing no runs on three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Marlins at Nationals Prediction
Miami is the superior team in all facets of the game with the better starter on the hill. I recommend the Miami Marlins moneyline for this matchup.
Pablo Lopez has been nothing short of stunning this year and the National’s offense is not the team to stop his hot stretch. Erick Fedde has struggled this season and tonight should be no different. Give me the road favorite and I’ll lay the -150.
Prediction: Miami Marlins Moneyline (-140)
